Italian citizenship is transmitted automatically to children of Italian parents (mother or father lineage) who are Italian citizen. There is no limit of generation the condition is though that none of the ancestors must have renounced their citizenship.

- If a person is a descendant of an Italian woman born after January, 1st 1948 it applies law. .91/1991
- If a person is a descendant of an Italian woman born before January, 1st 1948 citizenship recognition can be requested judicially (sentences of the last 8 years have been positive).
