Of Italian Citizenship
Citizens
born in Italy who lost their Italian citizenship acquiring the
american nationality (and passport) before August 16th
1992 are eligible (if the fulfill specific conditions) for
reacquiring Italian citizenship.
These
citizens can submit the request through the Consulate. In this case
all of the required documents must be provided to the Consulate who
forwards them to the competent “Comune” in Italy.
The
applicants must establish their residence in their town of origin
within one year of the declaration they submitted to the Consulate
requesting reacquisition of Italian citizenship.
Otherwise
they can directly submit the request at the local City Hall (Comune)
in Italy.
